Building Africa's worktech champion: Workpay
The coolest CTPO gig on the continent. Building something marvelous.
I’m taking a brief break from my AI ramblings. Normal service will resume shortly.
A couple of years ago we invested in Workpay, based in Nairobi, Kenya. We also followed on, investing in their A round. We have seen the business grow very strongly, delivering payroll and HR in multiple countries, providing EOR, and rethinking the intersection between payroll and banking in novel ways. It is bringing financial inclusion and robust HR processes to 10,000s of people, and 1000s of employers. Paul, Jack and the team have built something remarkable.
While all sorts of cool worktech is brewing in London, San Francisco, Singapore, Paris, Copenhagen and Berlin, at Acadian we believe that the future of worktech for Africa will be built in Africa.
As the business scales, Paul, the CEO, has realised that he needs to bring in a CPTO. Someone that’s able to help this business scale to become Africa’s worktech juggernaut. Whomever takes on this job will be shaping how HR is done across dozens of countries, they will improve the competitiveness of 1000s of companies, and potentially improving the lives of millions of people. By 2030, Africa will have over 1.1 billion people of working age — the largest labor force in the world. Workpay is perfectly placed to be paying them.
Details of the role below. The role can be remote, but Nairobi is a magical city, in a magical country.
If you have the leadership and technical chops to take this on, Workpay is partnering with Triage, an Africa focused Search firm. Triage will be managing this hire on behalf of the Workpay team, so please send your CV, portfolio or even just a note about why this opportunity resonates with you at ossian.plummer@triage.ag
Sounds like great work, both on your part and your portfolio's firms. If I were 20 years younger, I could be very interested in the position.
