You left off my biggest learning, this is mostly about public company M&A - ALL of the revenue of the acquired company goes to growth in the year it was acquired. This can give you a nice bump to your growth story but can also make future years growth needs more acute. Modeling the growth plans against shareholder value expectations and guiding appropriately is a key part of the puzzle and one that I think Bill McDermott is uniquely skilled in (I'd put Doug Kehring in this elite group as well)

Hi Thomas - great article! Not sure if you remember me, but I was on Tara O'Sullivan's marketing team at Immedis prior to the UKG acquisition, leading public and analyst relations. I really enjoyed working with Immedis. Glad to see that Richard Limpkin and Tiffany Appleby are still with the core team at UKG.

I'm freelancing now as a PR/AR consultant. I've continued working with Tara at various HR Tech companies - PepTalk and Omnipresent. I'm glad I've been able to continue working in the industry. Hope things are going well for you and your clients.
